Product Overview

What pool techs reach for when an accidental chemical overdose or heavy shock treatment leaves sanitizer levels too high for safe swimming.

Regal Chlorine and Bromine Neutralizer is a professional-grade sodium thiosulfate formula packaged in a convenient 1lb bottle. Designed by REGAL POOL CARE SYSTEM, this fast-acting balancer reliably handles excessive sanitizer levels without requiring you to drain or dilute your pool water. It is a proven choice for quickly lowering free chlorine down to the recommended 1–3 ppm range (or bromine down to safe levels) so your family can get back in the water safely.

Why Pool Pros Trust This

Benefits & What Makes It Different

Active Sodium Thiosulfate Formula

Contains high-purity sodium thiosulfate to rapidly neutralize active chlorine and bromine molecules on contact.

No Water Draining Required

Saves thousands of gallons of water by chemically reducing sanitizer levels instead of forcing a costly drain-and-refill.

Stain Treatment Compatibility

Lowers high chlorine levels that would otherwise destroy metal stain removers, making your stain treatments far more effective.

Pro Tip

In hot climates like Texas or Florida, high UV levels naturally degrade chlorine over a few days, but if you've heavily over-shocked and need to swim immediately, waiting for the sun isn't practical. This 1 LB neutralizer resolves it instantly. Always dissolve the granules in a bucket of pool water first, then pour it around the perimeter with the pump running. Keep out of reach of children. WARNING: See First Aid and Other Precautions on Back Panel.

Common Questions & Instructions

How much Regal Chlorine and Bromine Neutralizer do I need to lower my chlorine?

To lower chlorine or bromine levels, add 2 oz of this neutralizer per 10,000 gallons of pool water for every 1 ppm reduction needed. For example, to drop a 10,000-gallon pool from 9 ppm to a safe 4.0 ppm, you would need approximately 10 oz of this 1 LB bottle. Always test your water before and after application.

Will this product affect my pH, alkalinity, or cyanuric acid levels?

No. Unlike other pool chemicals, sodium thiosulfate does not add cyanuric acid (ideal range 30–50 ppm) or calcium hardness (ideal range 200–400 ppm), and it has a negligible impact on your total alkalinity (ideal range 80–120 ppm) and pH (ideal range 7.2–7.6) when used at standard doses.

How long do I have to wait to swim after adding chlorine neutralizer?

We recommend waiting at least 30 minutes to 1 hour after adding the neutralizer to allow it to fully circulate throughout the pool. Retest the water to ensure free chlorine is within the safe 1–3 ppm range (or up to 4.0 ppm) before allowing swimmers back into the water.
