Pool Pumps & Motors
The pump is the heart of your pool — it circulates water through your filter, heater, and chlorinator. Choosing the right pump saves hundreds per year on electricity.
Variable Speed vs. Single Speed
- Saves $40-80/month on electric bills
- Required by law for new Texas installations
- Whisper-quiet at low speeds
- Pays for itself in under 2 years
- Better filtration at lower flow rates
- High electricity cost ($80-150/month)
- No longer legal for new installs in TX
- Very loud at full speed
- Lower upfront cost
- Simple maintenance

Filtration Systems
Your filter removes debris and microscopic particles from the water. The right filter type makes a huge difference in water clarity and maintenance effort.
| Filter Type | Filtration | Maintenance | Best For | Our Pick? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cartridge | 10-15 microns | Hose off every 4-6 weeks, replace yearly | DFW pools (no backwash waste) | Recommended |
| Sand | 20-40 microns | Backwash weekly, replace sand every 5 years | Budget-friendly, easy maintenance | Good |
| DE (Diatomaceous Earth) | 3-5 microns | Backwash + add DE powder, teardowns twice/year | Crystal-clear water (high maintenance) | Advanced |

Heaters & Heat Pumps
Extend your swimming season from March through November (or year-round). Here's how the two main types compare:
Gas Heater
Uses natural gas or propane to heat water rapidly. Can raise pool temperature 20+ degrees in hours. Best for occasional use or spa heating.
- + Fastest heating (hours, not days)
- + Works in any outdoor temperature
- + Lower upfront cost ($1,500-3,000)
- - High operating cost ($200-500/month)
- - Shorter lifespan (5-10 years)
Heat Pump (Electric)
Pulls heat from the air and transfers it to your pool water. Much slower but extremely energy-efficient. Best for maintaining temperature all season.
- + Very low operating cost ($50-100/month)
- + Longer lifespan (10-20 years)
- + Eco-friendly
- - Slow heating (24-72 hours)
- - Less effective below 50F air temp
- - Higher upfront cost ($3,000-5,000)

Salt Chlorine Generators
Salt systems convert dissolved salt into chlorine automatically — giving you silky-smooth water without the harsh chemical smell. No more buying, storing, or handling chlorine.
How Salt Chlorination Works
Add pool-grade salt to your water (about 3,200 ppm). You only need to add salt 1-2 times per year.
Water flows through the salt cell, which uses electrolysis to convert salt (NaCl) into pure chlorine.
The system continuously produces chlorine while the pump runs. Set it once and enjoy crystal clear, soft water.
Cell lifespan: 3-5 years (roughly 10,000 hours). Regular acid cleaning of the titanium plates extends life significantly.

Don't risk voiding your warranty.
Many major manufacturers (like Pentair and Hayward) instantly void their 3-year warranties if equipment is not installed by a certified professional. Our licensed technicians will deliver and install your new pump or heater perfectly.
Equipment FAQs
Are Variable Speed Pumps (VSP) really worth it?
Yes. By law, most new installations require a VSP. Because they can run at lower speeds for longer durations, they use significantly less electricity than old single-speed pumps. Most homeowners in Texas see a drop of $40-$80 on their monthly electric bill, meaning the pump pays for itself in less than two years.
Cartridge vs. sand vs. DE filters?
Cartridge filters are our most highly recommended for DFW. They have massive surface areas, require no backwashing (saving thousands of gallons of water and expensive chemicals a year), and filter down to 10-15 microns. Sand is the easiest but least effective (20-40 microns). DE filters the finest (3-5 microns) but is messy and requires regular teardowns and backwashing.
How long does a salt cell last?
A high-quality salt chlorine generator cell (like a Pentair IntelliChlor or Hayward AquaRite cell) typically lasts 3 to 5 years, or roughly 10,000 hours of run time. Regular cleaning of the titanium plates using a diluted acid solution drastically extends its lifespan.
