Hot Tub Buyer's Guide

Everything you need to know about purchasing a Hot Tub!

Common Questions and Answers

Our Process

View the necessary steps along your journey!

Step 1: Vision

What do you envision in your backyard?

Questions to answer:

  1. What do you imagine in your backyard? Imagine your backyard as a personal oasis with a hot tub at its heart. The warm water invites relaxation, whether you’re enjoying a quiet soak or sharing it with friends. Surround the tub with your choice of seating and lighting to create a space that suits your style. Nestled among plants or set against the evening sky, it becomes the perfect spot for unwinding and enjoying moments of tranquility.
  2. What will be the key purpose of your Hot Tub? There are several great reasons to take the plunge into hot tub ownership - and there's a type of hot tub ideally suited to each type of owner. Before you start your search, think about how you envision using your hot tub: Hydrotherapy, Stress Relief, Fitness, or Entertainment.
  3. Where will you put your Hot Tub? Hot tubs require a flat, level, and supportive base. You have more flexibility with hot tub placement compared to a full-sized swimming pool, but it's still crucial to choose a location that facilitates easy access and routine maintenance, such as water testing, debris removal, and control panel adjustments.

Step 2: Installation

Now that you know what you want, let's go over the installation process!

  1. Final Quote: After choosing your Hot Tub or Swim Spa, we'll visit your property to assess support options, setup, electrical needs, and delivery logistics. If necessary, we'll offer additional free estimate visits. Once we've gathered all details, we'll prepare a final quote covering the Hot Tub, freight, support pad, electrical installation, outdoor extras, delivery, and accessories. After you approve and pay the quote, we'll provide a roadmap with estimated completion dates for each step.
  2. Support Pad & Outdoor Extras: If you already have a support pad, you can skip these steps. For a new pad, the process varies by material: for pavers, excavate 6-8 inches, add gravel, sand, lay and compact pavers, then add and water a final sand layer. For concrete, dig 8-10 inches, form and pour concrete, smooth it, and ensure proper drainage. Concrete takes up to 28 days to cure before you can add pavers. During this period, we also install any selected features like turf or fencing.
  3. Electrical & Delivery: After the hot tub is installed, our electrician will set up a power center unless you have a plug-and-play model. The hot tub will be placed in your backyard—wheeled through a side gate or lifted with a crane, based on size and access. We’ll then connect the electrical system, install accessories, and provide Spa School with maintenance, filter cleaning, and draining instructions.

Step 3: Maintenance

Everything is installed! Anything else?

1. Chemical Startup: To start up your hot tub, balance the water's pH and alkalinity first. For chlorine, add a shock treatment, let it circulate for 30 minutes, then add a chlorine sanitizer. For bromine, apply a shock treatment, let it circulate, then use a bromine sanitizer. Regularly test and adjust levels to keep the water clean.

2. Weekly Maintenance: For weekly hot tub maintenance, start by testing and adjusting the water's pH, alkalinity, and sanitizer levels using our Sirona Spa Care products. Clean the filters with Sirona's Filter Cleaner and ensure no debris is left in the skimmer basket. Use Sirona Spa Shock to keep the water sanitized and balanced, and run the jets to mix the chemicals thoroughly. Finish by inspecting the hot tub for any issues and topping off the water level if necessary.

3. Upgrades & Accessories: After purchasing a hot tub, consider enhancing your experience with a variety of accessories and upgrades. You can add a stylish and functional cover lifter for easy access, a waterproof Bluetooth speaker for immersive audio, or a built-in LED lighting system to set the mood. Upgrade with an ergonomic headrest or a spa step for added comfort and safety. For a touch of luxury, explore options like a custom cover, a floating tray for drinks and snacks, or an outdoor gazebo to create a relaxing retreat. These additions can elevate your hot tub enjoyment and make your spa time even more enjoyable. Enjoy!
